Public Hearing** 169 Eight lots Road 61A- Public Hearing notice as read by Clerk David Hall. Present is Attorney Mel Chacharone. TA Smith states this is property owned by William Cronin. It is the first of several public hearings. Dept. heads feel there is no town use for this property. Vice Chair Hebert has no issues, there is no need to take action. Selectman Hall asks its current use, Atty. Chacharone states it is vacant land, Dave agrees with Vice Chair Hebert’s comments. Selectman Kenney questions the size of the property, Atty. Chacharone says it is a 12.37 acre lot, 5.6 acres will be removed out of 61A. Chairman Limanek says if this is beneficial to Mr. Cronin it is not a town issue. Chairman Limanek motions to close the Public Hearing, All in favor passes 4-0. Vice Chair Hebert motions to not exercise the
town’s option under MGL Chapter 61A for property located at 169 Eight lots Road, Map #28 Parcel 3 Selectman Kenney seconds passes 4-0
Public Hearing** 11 John Road Class I & II- Public Hearing notice as read by Clerk David Hall. Present is Dan Cowher President/owner of Environmental Equipment Sales & Services. TA Smith says this has gone before the town at Town Meeting for a zoning change, he is before the BOS tonight and will be before Planning Board for their approval. Mr. Cowher says this business is to sell garbage trucks (the bodies not the chassis). He has no intent to sell vehicles but needs the licenses in order to demonstrate for customers. These are built to order vehicles so the most on the lot will be 1-3 at any one time. Vice Chair Hebert says this is an industrial site, this seems like a nice clean operation. Selectman Hall agrees this is an excellent location, good luck. Selectman Kenney agrees he needs these licenses to keep a
profitable business going. Chairman Limanek says it is common sense, in order to operate in an efficient manner this is needed. Chairman Limanek motions to close the public hearing, all in favor passes 4-0. Selectman Kenney motions to approve the Class I & II at 11 John Road to Environmental Equipment Sales & Services contingent upon the approval from the Planning Board with an expiration date of January 1, 2019, Selectman Hall seconds passes 4-0
2018 Board of Selectmen meeting schedule: TA Smith reviews with the BOS the few months that have state elections which fall in September and November. Those months will have 1 meeting but there will be 3 meetings in the month of October. The Board are all in agreement there are no issues, if there needs to be a meeting added on towards the end of the year we will add it.
Selectman Hall motions to accept as presented the November 7, 2017 meeting minutes, Vice Chairman Hebert seconds passes 4-0
TA Update:
- FY19 Budget process-capital plans out to Dept. Heads, due back Dec. 14th. Budgets will go out on Dec. 7 and due back January 10th, 2018. There were 12 additional students to attend BVT which added $150,000.00 in this line item.
- Barn at Shaw Farm- MIIA no longer insures, we had to go out to a 3rd party to insure. The cost per year is $3200.00 the barn is in a dilapidated state and would cost significant money to restore. There is no historical significance to this barn, it was built around 1950.
- Vice Chair Hebert feels there is no value and the barn should be demolished. The barn does not enhance the property.
- Selectman Hall feels this barn is a massive liability, if there is a way to salvage the material fine but it is not a priority.
- Selectman Kenney feels that it is a liability- an accident waiting to happen. If it was built in the 50’s it is not historical.
- Chairman Limanek says the barn is not significant in terms of history. Jesse supports disposal.
- Library extension- Betsy Perry informed TA Smith that the trustees would be going for a 3 month extension but at yesterday’s meeting they announced they would not be going for the extension.
- Chain of Lights- will take place on December 2 from 10am-4pm. This was started back in 1995 by Gary Vaillancourt.
- Transfer Station will be closed on Thanksgiving but will be open regular hours on Friday and Saturday.
- BOS Meeting room make over- thanks to PEG grants from Verizon and Charter and Pam Nichols and her staff for the facelift currently on going.
